rest

This year, I’m writing poetry for every word tasting in November. I’m calling it Povember. Today, to finish the month, a rondeau. I have enjoyed doing my word tastings as poetry for a month. I will probably keep doing so from time to time.

and then the rest my crust desired
because I was so very tired
so tired of cold, so tired of ice
so desperate for someplace nice
I found at last, for I conspired

intrigued, researched, and funds were wired
and offers taken unexpired
to swim in warmth and soak in vice
and then the rest

my passions soon were filled as fired
and wit and will were moist and mired
I softly found what must suffice
and need not learn the lesson twice
to take just what my lack requires
and then the rest
