Silk to bombastic–! A fascinating word journey…silk/stuffing/stuffed/over-stuffed/bombastic… perhaps? Makes me also think of the literary characters sometimes encountered in Victorian fiction: over-bearing matrons, governesses or grouchy old maiden aunts, stuffed and corseted into their silk bombazine gowns. Thanks for another great review.
